I have been asked for my opinion on whether or not contraceptive implants are ok to use with female guinea pigs, or if desexing would be a better option. The piggy in question is three years old and suffers from regular bladder infections which seem to appear 24-48 hours after her being in season. The vet thinks if she doesn't go in season she won't suffer from the bladder infections. My question is, has anyone heard of or had experience with contraceptive implants? I'd never heard of them in relation to guinea pigs, until now.

I know that BBEVS do hormone implants, Alex. I know someone with a hormone implant in their male pig, due to an enlarged prostate I think. It'd be worth asking BBEVS for their opinion maybe?
